Step Up Revolution Review

By The Secretary
Step Up Revolution is an amazing dance movie, where there is a mob, and they create flash mobs that are themed differently. I can't really explain it with out spoilers so just watch this trailer. The movie is filled with music, excitement, and dance. I believe altogether they do 4 or 5 flash mobs. Each one just gets better and better. It was so good. I am going to see it again. Anyone who can go should go. It is amazing great story. Best movie ever! Just may could be the best movie of the summer.

Belmont Park Review

By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
In Mission Beach, San Diego they have one place to check out.  We are talking about Belmont Park. They have rides for the little kids, and for the big kids. The biggest attraction, almost wraps around the whole area. The Giant Dipper Roller coaster takes you through twists and turns with great birds-eye views.  This wooden roller coaster is crazy. It is not really soft, so maybe not the best ride in the park, but one to check out. One ride that is not rickety is Beach Blaster. This attraction looks like a claw. As it twists around, you are taken to new heights. But don't worry, you don't go upside down. One ride that grantees you to go upside down is Octotron. You are able to control the ride with a lever. Your choice if you want to spin 360' degrees the whole time. This is another exciting ride to not miss. For the kids, you can check out Crazy Submarine. On this ride, you go up and down as if you were in the ocean. Speaking of the ocean,  Belmont Park is home to the Wave House. Great place to hang out and try to surf. As you can tell, it is almost impossible to get bored at Belmont Park! For more information check out www.belmontpark.com!

Dark Night Rises Review

By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist and Mr. Moneybag$
SPOILER! I saw it the day it came out-$ Over the weekend, I headed to the movies to catch The Dark Night Rises-D.Z.! This movie was really great. The beginning starts off with some action then goes a little slow, but after the rest is filled with exciting action except for in the middle. The same time Batman disappears, Bruce Wayne does too. He keeps himself away in the Wayne Manor. One day he meets officer Blake, who plays a major role in this movie. Then evil attacks by attacking the stock exchange. Later the same people start to take over the city. The reason they were able to do that is because they have been making explosive cement. Then when thousands are gathered in a stadium a button is pushed collapsing the stadium into big pieces. A little while later, a time bomb nuke started. To stop the bomb from going off, they needed Batman. This movie has lots of twists, making you jump out of your seat. I would give this movie a 10 out of 10!

Universal's Halloween Horror Nights Announcments

By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
In the last few weeks a lot has been announced involving Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Both Universal Orlando and Hollywood both have very exciting things.

'Alice Cooper' concept art from Universal
At both Orlando and Hollywood, they will be having 'Alice Cooper' haunted houses. The 'Alice Cooper' houses will probably not be the same, Universal releasing the names you can tell. They are both very different. This was all confirmed in a video Universal released. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOZZurL0vdQ  The Hollywood version will be actually be in 3D. Talking about Halloween Horror Nights, here is what Alice Cooper had to say.“I grew up watching classic Universal horror movies so it’s a thrill for me to work with Universal’s designers to create the quintessential Alice Cooper maze for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. To have Alice Cooper haunted attractions at both parks this year is truly an honor…or is it a horror? Last year, Universal Studios Hollywood scared the wits out of me with their maniacal and demented creation and they’ve promised to up the ante with ‘Alice Cooper Goes To Hell 3D.’ I can’t wait to see the final terrifying masterpiece. It will be hell! I’m even more excited to see Universal Orlando Resort’s maze, ‘Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare.’ Let’s see if they can scare me!”
'Walking Dead' concept art from Universal

Another scare spot at Halloween Horror Nights is the ‘Walking Dead.’ Here is the walking dead video announcement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcfEJRh4RAQ&feature=plcp Speaking of the Walking Dead, just last week at San Diego Comic Con, Petco Park was home to the Walking Dead Escape. Maybe the maze at Halloween Horror Nights will be similar to the maze at SDCC.  Here is what Universal Studios Hollywood Creative Director John Murdy had to say. “For fans of the series, we’re going to put you in the footsteps of the characters on the show. You’re going to have to try to survive the zombie apocalypse. Only now, you’re not in your living room watching it, you’re living it.”

Photo from Universal
‘Silent Hill’ is the final haunted house we are talking about. This concept has been requested many times. So many fans are excited about this. Some of the photos released about this shows a nurse with a knife. Here is the video announcement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK2ul-q1Kf4&feature=context-chv

As you can tell, there is a lot of themes going into Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights 2012. The best part of all is, if you are going to the one in Hollywood or Orlando, you are going to see the same themes and concepts. Hopefully when this all starts in late September, we will be able to list the differences, if there is many.

Kingdom Keepers 5 Shell Game Review

By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
The Kingdom Keepers series is about 5 teens defeating Disney Villains, who are trying to take over the Walt Disney Parks! The first four books started out at Walt Disney World. Now, for the 5th book, takes place on the Disney Cruise Line! This 5th book is really outstanding. In the beginning, they got right into the action. Also, it really felt like you were with them. I consider this book my favorite. Author Ridley Pearson has goon way higher than my expectations. This book is one of those novels that stands out. Just before it got in bookstores, they released a great book cover. It looked really cool. Can it get better than this? A really cool cover and a really cool book? If you ever need a fun, exciting book , read Kingdom Keepers 5 Shell Game and the others. Photo from Kingdom Keepers website.

Disneyland Presents: Ask Otto!

By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
Disneyland has released a phone number, where you can talk to Otto. Otto is voice based that provides you many things when you are in the parks. If you ask him a question he will answer it as quick as he can. Usually he will say to please hold and respond in the next few seconds. He can tell you wait times, dining options, park hours and much more. It works really well. I asked him about some good food and good prices, and he sent me to a cast member to help. Also, when he doesn't not know the answer on the top of his head he whistles. Sometimes if you don't give him much information, he will ask for more. This is a really cool thing. I felt like I was talking to a real Disney cast member. Hopefully they will have this soon in other Disney theme parks.

Knott's Soak City Review

By The Secretary
Knott's Soak City (San Diego) is an humongous waterpark featuring 17+ amazing, fast, and fun slides. One slide that I enjoyed was called La Jolla falls. It has a heart pounding vertical plunge into a long pool attached to the slide, and another plunge, except this one went down straight then down again. Two more slides in La Jolla falls is White Wash and Wipeout. They are twisting high speed slides that send you speeding out of the enclosed slide at incredible speeds. I also enjoyed a slide called Pacific Spin. As you can tell, there is a lot to do at Knott's Soak City Water parks.

Captain America: Winter Soldier The Movie

                                                                    By Dr.Pan¡c

On April 14th, 2014, Captain America:The Winter Soldier is planned to be released into the theaters worldwide. Not much is known about the movie at this time except that Sebastian Stan will be returning to play Buck, Captain America's best friend in the first movie. What is strange is that this movie will take place during the present. Last time we saw Buck was in 1944, where he fell of a cliff into the unknown. It is unknown of how Buck could've survived such a fall but in the comics he was he recieved a bionic arm and worked for the soviets. Basically, he was a bad guy. Also, Falcon is rumored to be in the film but it's only a rumor, so don't get to excited.

Comic Con Panel - Doctor Who

By Miss Geek Chic (I'm New) :)
On Sunday I woke up at the crack of dawn to get in line for the Doctor Who panel. The line was ridiculously long, I'm talking about going past the Convention Center and all the way around the harbor past the Joe's Crab Shack. Lines and lines and lines of people were waiting patiently but the line was not going ANYWHERE! My sister stood in line for over three hours!

I decided to look around the convention hall in the mean time (dressed up of course) You should have seen that place it was a zoo! Anyway, I finally received the best phone call from my sister. She was just about to enter Hall H so I hopped back in line, got my badge scanned, and entered the hall. There had to be at least 6,000 people there but seats were incredibly hard to find. The Doctor Who panel was not the only panel in hall H that day. The cast of Fringe and Supernatural were there too. About 2 hours later it was finally time for the Doctor Who panel and the host was Chris Hardwick, better known as the host of the Nerdist podcast. As soon as The Doctor (Matt Smith) Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Pond (Arthur Darvill) and Steven Moffat stepped foot on stage you could hear the entire hall go crazy!

Caroline Skinner also made an appearance as well. I saw the most dedicated Doctor Who fans ever, they raised their sonic screwdrivers in the air, adjusted their fezzes, and a select few started singing the theme song! Matt Smith, is our eleventh Doctor who immediately captured hearts the minute he appeared in Doctor Who. After being on the show for a couple of years it’s made quite the impact on the actor. He claims that it’s transformed his life for the better, but then he dished out what is the best quote to come out of this convention. “I just quickly like to say that if the world were a little bit more like Comic-Con then it would be a better place.” We all can completely agree with you! Steven had a couple of surprises for us Whovians! There were a couple of clips that were shown throughout the panel. The first one was just a recap of the latest season, followed shortly after with a cute montage of Amy and Rory on their little adventures with The Doctor or them just being an absolutely adorable couple. Some very strange questions were asked, but most were not answered because the cast were messing around to much.

Chris opened up a question still on everyone still has on their minds...what’s The Doctor’s real name? While Steven Moffat wasn’t ready to reveal it just yet, he does hint at the possibility of finding out in the future. “It’s been there from the start. He never gives his name… It’s a tremendously important question. But I know why and you will find out the truth.” We’re not entirely sure we want to really know The Doctor’s true name, but at the same time it could be very puzzling to us fans. After the panel we continued our quest at Comic Con until the final hours! Until next year, goodbye Comic Con! :)

Interactive Zone- San Diego Comic Con

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
In a previous post, we talked a little about the Interactive Zone at Comic Con San Diego. Not many people know that this area is free. You do not need a pass.

One of the big things is all about the new movie "Django Unchained" by Quentin Tarantino. In this area, they had a big table set up. On the side, is where you can get posters, magazines, refreshments and much more. Also, you had a chance to win a free t-shirt. To win, you had to say a secret code. Also, the whole booth was set up as a red barn. Just in the middle of all the fun, they had a live DJ playing some tunes.

Another thing they have at the Interactive Zone is all about the new show called "Revolution." They have a bunch of the props used in the show. (or replicas) One big prop is a ivy covered ferris wheel on the side. Yes, it is all free. You can find a walk through of this experience here on our youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg9AAQoZado&feature=plcp

As you can tell, there is a lot to do even if you don't have a pass. So if you are in the area, be sure to stop by and join in on the fun.

      The NEW Chuck E. Cheese!

      By The Secretary
Chuck E. Cheese, the beloved mascot and icon of an animatronic rock band has been replaced by a rat wearing the same outfit. This rat is a rocker, in the commercials, playing his guitar. Even thouh our childhood masscot is gone, Chuck E. Cheese is really creating new ideas. One proablem that a lot are thinking is how will the kids react to the change. Change may be hard for some, but lots believe this is a good direction. Because this new Chuck E. is so small it will be interesting to see how the costume will look. It bet they will keep the band, cause now everytime you see the new Chuck E. he has a guitar.

      Happy Birthday Disneyland!

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
Just 57 years ago, Disneyland Park was opened with a grand opening ceremony. About 15 thousand excited people came, most invited guests by Walt Disney. The whole event was brodcasted on TV. One of the first people that came up on the TV screens was Art Linkletter (Host) as he guided you through the ceremony. Later Walt Disney said a great speech.

"To all who come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts which have created America ... with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

A little while after, a parade went by filled with music, dance, fun, and magic. Fallowing that, they went to each land and opened them up in a special way. This day was very special. For 57 years, Disneyland has been creating new things. I bet for the next 57 years, they will be doing the same thing.

Comic Con San Diego: Walking Dead Escape

At this year’s Comic Con San Diego, many had the chance to partake in The Walking Dead Escape! This obstacle course took place at Petco Park, across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. Here, people had to run their way through obstacles all around zombies. This maze was really cool. Petco Park had some of their TVs playing throughout the journey talking about how the zombies have took over Petco Park. Actually at the end of the maze, you have to go in a room filled with a bunch of doctors testing you, to make sure you were not infected. The acting in this obstacle was fabulous. It really seemed like you were about to be attached by zombies. Hopefully in the coming years, they will have this again.

Comic Con San Diego: Don't Have a Ticket?

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
Today, was the final day of San Diego Comic Con. I was able to go down to the convention for a little, along with some of the Geek Central bloggers. Not many people know that if you don't have a ticket, you can still join in on the fun. If you go across the bridge, close to Petco Park, you will find a little area with lots to see and do. Some of this includes movie sets, video game areas, and much more. Isn’t that cool? So next time you are close to Comic Con, be sure to go out and explore. You don't need a badge to have fun. Also, you can get some great photos outside the convention center with some people dressed up. Who knows, you could find your favorite character.

      'Brave' Review

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
SPOILER! Today, I was able to see the movie "Brave." This movie is about a girl named Merida who does not want to be a princess and marry someone of her parents choice. When she has a witch cast a spell on her Mother, accidentally turning her into a Bear, all does not go well. All Merida wanted was a mom who listened to her. This movie is really good. In the beginning they get right to the action. Another part of the problem is Merida's father actually lost his leg to a bear. People in the kingdom say that one day the bear would come back for revenge. If a bear is roaming around the castle, it will for sure be killed. This movie shows that the grass may not be greener on the other side. This movie is really cute. Every part is just really great. I really recommend seeing this movie. TMZ Hollywood Tour

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
On June 15, I was able to ride the TMZ Hollywood Tour bus. This tour rocks. TMZ is a TV show and a website that talks about stars, and what they are up to. On the tour they take you through Hollywood and talk about the places. Also, every tour guide is from the show. Our guide Luke was really funny. He sang and danced. He is a big MJ fan.. Some of the places we went were Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip, Hollywood Blvd. This tour is one to not miss when you are in the area. Also, now every time I watch the show, I have to look for Luke!

      Balboa Park Remodel Approved

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
Just yesterday, the San Diego City Council sat for seven hours in a meeting. Some of that time was talking about a re-model for Balboa Park. Balboa Park is a great place to go in San Diego. It is home to many famous museums. One of the big problems about Balboa Park is parking. All the streets of the park are covered with cars finding a spot. The idea is to have a "bypass bridge" It would take cars to a parking garage where you have to pay for a spot. But, without cars everywhere, you will have more walking space and easier ways to get from museum to museum. They hope to complete this project by 2015!

      New Universal Orlando Hotel!

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
When a theme park gets a new ride, it is big. When a theme park gets a hotel, it is huge! Universal Orlando announced that they will be having a hotel called the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. This whole concept is the theme of a driving vacation. The layout will be '50s style. This resort will have 1,800 rooms: 900 family suites and 900 standard rooms. Like many others, it will have a pool and of course cabanas. The resort will be close to Islands of Adventure park, probably meaning easier accessibility to get into the park! Tom Williams who is chairman and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts said... “Our new hotel will give guests an affordable, incredibly themed on-site hotel experience unlike anything else at our resort. Our new family suites and family-value pricing will give our guests on-site options they’ve never had before.” This resort will open in 2014. Concept Art by Universal

      Mad T. Party

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
I have told you a little bit about the Mad T. Party, back in a post weeks ago. We talked all about the Previews. Now I am going to tell you a lot about it. If you are in need for some rock-n-roll Disney style, head on over to Disney's California Adventures. They have a experience to not miss. It all happens when the moon is up and the sun is down. The Mad T. Party, is where you get to dance, chill, eat, and enjoy the magic and music all around. They also have a live band dressed up as characters from Alice and Wonderland. This experience starts, when you step into the rabbit hole. Then you are greeted by some music and fun. One song is actually about a 'unbirthday'! All the songs, are really good. The Mad T. Party replaced ElecTRONica that was up and running for almost a little over a year. If you want to get your move on with some crazy characters, be sure to check out the Mad T. Party!

Could You Really Climb a Disneyland Ride?

If someone asked you to climb the Matterhorn at Disneyland, would you do it? Ever sense the ride opened in the late '50s lots have been able to experience it! This is certainly a sight to not miss. They always wave to the crowds. They have not had climbers sense 2006, and now they are back with the newly re imagined Matterhorn Bobsleds ride. “It is great to have this program back again, where we get to experience and share the joy and excitement of the thrill of Matterhorn climbing,” said Mike Layman, Technical Director at the Disneyland Resort! So next time you visit the park, be sure to find the climbers.

      Boomers Review

We were able to visit Boomers! We had so much fun. Here is our review on it. Boomers is such a great place that is fun for the whole family. They have really fun mini gulf. The gulf cwarce is a bunch of fake houses, a moutain, castle, and much more. Not all Boomers have that much though. We were lucky enough to find one with that much. Besides playing mini golf, they have bumber cars and bumper boats. They also have great game rooms that can earn yourself fun prizes. Be sure to go online to find a Boomers near you. Such a fun place to go!

      Amazing Spider Man Movie Review

      By Mr. Moneybag$
Hey guys, I just went to the new Spider Man movie, it was amazing! I would definitly rate this movie a 9 out of 10. It is about a wimpy teenager who gets bit by a radioactive spider who then gives him enhanced strength, speed, and agility. Later he makes his webs using his father 's unfinished formula. But this is after his uncle gets killed by a robber. Throughout the beginning of the movie Spidey is looking for this killer until Dr. Curtis Connors A.K.A. the Lizard comes by and tries to poison New York. This movie is a total thrill and I think you should see it.

      Wicked! The Musical Review

      By D.Z. Theme Park Specialist
Just last night, I was able to experience 'Wicked'! This show was outstanding. The show is about what happened before Dorthy landed in OZ! (Wizard of OZ) Actually, this was a twist of it. They do lead up to the movie, making it even better. The story is that Glinda and the Wicked Witch were friends. The Wicked Witch even died, still being best friends with Glinda. They also explained how the Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow became who they were. Really, I thought of this show as a behind the scenes of the ‘Wizard of Oz'. It is such a brilliant idea for a show. If you decide to go see it, be sure to watch the 'Wizard of Oz'. You will be able to understand it more. Being a big 'Wizard of Oz' fan myself, it really helped. Also, some of the great people in OZ, turn not so great. I forgot to mention that this show is hilarious. In some parts you are laughing every few seconds. Besides the story, the costumes were amazing. They did great with the special effects, lighting, choreography, flying, and make up. This show really stands out in my book. I have seen many shows before, nothing like this. I hope someday to see this show again.
