Legoland Hotel: Trip Report

By D.Z. "Theme Park Specialist"
The Legoland Hotel in Carlsbad just opened yesterday. We were able to go and see the hotel!
The Legoland Hotel is just feet away from the turnstiles of Legoland California. The front is very decorative, as if a kid was chosen to design it.

Out in front is the iconic dragon.
The hotel's lobby is very family friendly.

A passive LEGO pit allows you kids to build, build, build.
If you walk a little further in the lobby, you will find a gigantic play structure. Here your kids can be wild and have fun.

The hallways and rooms are decked out.
The Bricks Family Restaurant will serve your family for all their needs. Kids dishes are about $10. Another option is a small cafe in the main lobby.

Check back with us soon to hear about the rooms!

Legoland Hotel History

By D.Z. "Theme Park Specialist"
Today is the grand opening of the North Americas first Legoland Hotel. Located at the Legoland California Resort in Carlsbad, this hotel is designed for the whole family. For over ten years, Legoland California has been adding many rides, shows and attractions. Back in 2008, Legoland added Sea Life Aquarium. Then 2010, Legoland opened the worlds first Legoland Water Park. Finally this year, the park opened up the Legoland Hotel. This hotel is not like any other.  Your children will have the time of their lives. From swimming in the pool to finding hidden treasure in their room! You can see that this hotel is a must do on your Legoland trip. Now, lets look back at where it all started!

It began in August of 2011 when Legoland officially announced the hotel! After, consturction quickly began.

Here is a video update by SilverSteel3000.

Then, the Geek Central Blog headed over to the park to see the progress.

On October 14, we were able to see the htoel's progress! The hotel was just being painted when we made our visit.

Here is our video update!

2 months and 14 days later, we were back checking the progress. By this time, the whole hotel was painted and the LEGO models were already being placed.

Behind the fence is where the pool is.

Here is our video update!

Weeks later, Legoland had its 2013 press confrence on the hotel grounds. Legoland California's general manager Peter Ronchetti made a big announcment. He told us that a junior concierge contest will be held. Six winners will be chosen and have the chance to work at the hotel for a weekend. The winners were announced February 28!

After, the hotel consturction kept going!

If you go online, you can see what the hotel looks like via map.

This whole time, Legoland was updating the web with videos on the progress. They called them "Behind the Scenes at LEGOLAND Hotel" episodes. The host was Julie Estrada from Legoland California Resort TV. Here are all the videos made! The first one was aired on youtube April 27, 2012!
