Today is a monumental day in
animated history, as ANOTHER animated film has surpassed a worldwide gross of
$1 billion at the box office. Being a contender since it premiered Thanksgiving
2013, Disney's newest blockbuster, Frozen, reached $1 billion in box
office totals yesterday, March 1, 2014.
In 2010, Pixar's Toy Story 3 broke records as the first animated film to ever surpass the $1 billion mark in box office totals. The movie overall grossed $1,063,171,911. Frozen has grossed $1,000,236,000, and is still yet to premiere in Japan in less than two weeks.
Will Frozen surpass Toy
Story 3 to become the highest grossing animated film ever? Chances are
high, because Japan hasn't gotten a chance to experience Disney's newest
blockbuster. My opinion? It is definite, being behind by only $63 million and
expecting a premiere in Japan. Well, we don't know for sure what Japan will do
for Frozen, but fingers crossed!
UPDATE:
Frozen has been nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars'
tonight (March 2) and at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, March 29. Fingers crossed this
billion-dollar blockbuster will nab some more awards!!!
