On Sunday I woke up at the crack of dawn to get in line for the Doctor Who panel. The line was ridiculously long, I'm talking about going past the Convention Center and all the way around the harbor past the Joe's Crab Shack. Lines and lines and lines of people were waiting patiently but the line was not going ANYWHERE! My sister stood in line for over three hours!
I decided to look around the convention hall in the mean time (dressed up of course) You should have seen that place it was a zoo! Anyway, I finally received the best phone call from my sister. She was just about to enter Hall H so I hopped back in line, got my badge scanned, and entered the hall. There had to be at least 6,000 people there but seats were incredibly hard to find. The Doctor Who panel was not the only panel in hall H that day. The cast of Fringe and Supernatural were there too. About 2 hours later it was finally time for the Doctor Who panel and the host was Chris Hardwick, better known as the host of the Nerdist podcast. As soon as The Doctor (Matt Smith) Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Pond (Arthur Darvill) and Steven Moffat stepped foot on stage you could hear the entire hall go crazy!
Caroline Skinner also made an appearance as well. I saw the most dedicated Doctor Who fans ever, they raised their sonic screwdrivers in the air, adjusted their fezzes, and a select few started singing the theme song! Matt Smith, is our eleventh Doctor who immediately captured hearts the minute he appeared in Doctor Who.
After being on the show for a couple of years it’s made quite the
impact on the actor. He claims that it’s transformed his life for the
better, but then he dished out what is the best quote to come out of
this convention. “I just quickly like to say that if the world were a
little bit more like Comic-Con then it would be a better place.” We all can completely agree with you! Steven had a couple of surprises for us Whovians! There were a couple of clips that were shown throughout the panel. The
first one was just a recap of the latest season, followed shortly after
with a cute montage of Amy and Rory on their little adventures with The
Doctor or them just being an absolutely adorable couple. Some very strange questions were asked, but most were not answered because the cast were messing around to much.
Chris opened up a question still on everyone still has on their minds...what’s The Doctor’s real name? While Steven Moffat wasn’t ready to
reveal it just yet, he does hint at the possibility of finding out in
the future. “It’s been there from the start. He never gives his name…
It’s a tremendously important question. But I know why and you will find
out the truth.” We’re not entirely sure we want to really know The
Doctor’s true name, but at the same time it could be very puzzling to us fans. After the panel we continued our quest at Comic Con until the final hours! Until next year, goodbye Comic Con! :)
